Denman Evangelism Awards presented

Three South Georgia United Methodists have been awarded UM’s highest honor, the Harry Denman Evangelism Award.

Given through the Conference Witness Team, the Denman Awards recognize outstanding work in the field of evangelism.

Rev. Jimmy McIlrath, pastor of The Ridge in Columbus, is the 2014 clergy award recipient. The Ridge was also recognized at the 2014 Annual Conference session for being the South Georgia UM Church with the highest number of professions of faith.

Larry Price, a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Albany, is this year’s laity Denman Award recipient. An active member in the Conference’s United Methodist Men, Price also served as a delegate to the 2012 General Conference session.

Taylor Bush is the 2014 youth award recipient. Bush, a member of Bainbridge First United Methodist Church, serves on the Southwest District UM Youth Council and as the District Officer Member of Annual Conference.

Since 1982, the South Georgia Conference has celebrated the outstanding personal evangelism ministries of United Methodist clergy, laity and youth.
