Director of Modern Worship Music - White Bluff UMC, Savannah

8/27/2019

White Bluff United Methodist Church is located in the Southside of historic Savannah, Georgia. We have a membership of 850. This year, as we celebrate our 60th year of ministry, our church is preparing to try something new. We’re planning to start a new worship service to reach new people. The service will have modern worship expressions while also including liturgical elements. Winfield Bevins, in his book, Ever Ancient Ever New, called this service “neo-liturgical.” The worship service will seek to create a space where people can participate in the traditions of the church regularly (Holy Communion, baptism, communal prayer, reciting the Creeds, confession, etc) while using modern expressions of the Christian faith. (arts, modern music, etc.) To lead the music of this new service, we are seeking a part-time Modern Worship Leader to create a worship leadership team to pray and share excitement in crafting creative worship experiences. Understanding of liturgy and Wesleyan theology is important in order to select music which reinforces the worship theme of the day as determined by the Senior Pastor. Skills and Abilities required: The ability to recruit and work with musicians to provide quality music for worship. Creativity to work with the senior pastor as WBUMC creates a new worship service. The leader needs a heart for people, both our current members and those within our community. The Modern Worship Leader will need to be gifted in guitar or the keyboard, with the ability to sing and lead the service vocally. The ability to potentially work musically with youth and children. Above all, the leader needs a deep love of Jesus Christ and a desire to lead others in worship. Starting Date: January 1st, 2020 If interested in more information:Contact: Rev.
