The Director of Family Ministries Job Description The Director of Family Ministries must be an acknowledged, confessing Christian and will be expected to become a loyal, active participant of Quitman United Methodist Church. The Vision of QUMC: The Director of Family Ministries will develop a weekly pattern of relationship building in the area including participation on community boards, clubs and activities. Objective: Personal Requirements: • A mature relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord • Regular practice of spiritual disciplines • A person of prayer • Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit and knows how to walk in the power of the Spirit • Strong relationship skills • In agreement with the doctrines of the Methodist Church • Reliable transportation • Open to continuing education opportunities Knowledge/Gifting/Skills/Abilities/Experience: • Strong abilities and experience in equipping leaders and working with teams • Ability to connect relationally with parents and children • Good teaching ability and communication skills and adequate technology skills. • Ability to develop and implement strategy • A willingness and ability to pioneer new things and inspire others to new initiatives • Strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities: • Participates in all events, programs and activities at QUMC • Develops summer programs, including the following: social/fellowship missions/outreach, spiritual growth and mission trips • Develops community relationships. Not limited to but including participating in community and school events involving families, youth and children. • Seeks relationships with those in the community who do not know Christ. • Plans events on a regular basis that are engaging not only to church families but also in the community. • Develops a regular pattern of relationship building in the QUMC community and with a community organization outside the church. Result-Based Job Description: Relationships: . • Result #1 The Director of Family Ministries participates in community/school events/community sports events • Result #2 Families/Individuals who are new to QUMC are followed up in a timely manner and made to feel welcome. • Result #3 Events are planned on a regular basis that are engaging not only to church families but also those in the community. • Result #4 The QUMC programs are growing in participation, enthusiasm and vision. • Result #5 A growing number of families are participating at QUMC • Result #6 A growing number of families are regularly participating in Sunday morning ministries, learning how to use their gifts and serving others. • Result #7 On a regular basis Youth and Adult Mission Teams are sent out. This is not solely the Director of Family Ministries role, but he/she will play a part in seeing this happen. • Result #8 The Director of Family Ministries is available to take part in Sunday morning ministry and to assist with other church events. Accountability: The Director of Family Ministries is part of the Staff and accountable to the Pastor and the SPRC Chair. Regular performance reviews will determine continued employment. A weekly Activity Report will be submitted by the Director to the SPRC chair on Monday of each week.
